June
16, 2007 -Superbouts Fight Night at the West
Warwick Civic Center Rondeau's
Kickboxing Fighter wins by KO! |
|
What
an exciting fight night at the West
Warwick Civic Center! Rondeau's
Kickboxing sent three fighters in the ring, Sarah Pagliarini,
Heather Pickering and Lauren Chunko!
First
Fight:
Sarah
Pagliarini stepped in as the first fight of the night and
started the night off with a Bang!
Her
competititor Michelle charged her at the sound of the bell and
an explosion of punches and kicks took place non stop for an
exciting first round! Michelle took some lethal right
crosses to the face and by the end of the first round her face
was bloody.
Round
two and Michelle charged at Sarah again and was swinging
wildly, Sarah threw right down the middle and drove her fierce
competitor against the ropes. Sarah kept her against the
ropes and was relentless as she continued to kick and punch
until she got a Knock Out!!!
Winner
by KO in the second round ... RKB Fighter, Sarah
Pagliarini!!!
Second
Fight:
Heather
Pickering stepped in the ring for the first time against
Sharon. The first round
showed that this fight was going to be about endurance.
Heather threw nice right roundhouse kicks to her competitors
head and kept her away with driving front ball kicks down the
middle. Her Jabs connected everytime and she won the first
round of the fight! Second round and they came out hard at
each other. Exchanging alot of combinations but both fighters
looked exhausted. Round two was close and both fighters were
pacing themselves and throwing everything they had! Round
three and Heather picked it up, connecting with punches and
kicks the whole round. She blocked her attacker and kept
moving but the judges scored it 2 to 1 giving the win to her
competitor. It was a very close fight and could have went
either way. AWESOME JOB !!!!!!
Third
Fight:
Lauren Chunko had her turn to shine! She was up against a
well respected Heather who was a pure bull in the ring. Her
competitor came forward and didnt' stop. Lauren used all her
skill to out move this womyn. Lauren slipped and dipped and
kept moving so her competitor had to find her and chase her
around the ring. Lauren threw overhead right bombs landing
spectacular hooks and rights to her
head.
Round
one was an excellent display of pure skill and movement by
Lauren!
Round
two and Lauren continued to out move her attacker! Lauren
landed side kick after side kick and round house kicks but
Heather didn't stop.. she kept trying to drive and pound
Lauren against the ropes but Lauren was quick and moved away
each time leaving her blinded to were she
was!
Round
three and the heat was on... Lauren picked up her pace as well
as Heather did and they threw punches and kicks endlessly till
the bell rang!
Winner
by UNANIMOUS decision, RKB Fighter, Lauren Chunko!!!!
SPECTACULAR fight and AWESOME display of skill and
movement! |

Christina
Rondeau's student
and kickboxing Instructor, Jaclyn Morse, wins her
fight
Saturday,
March 24th 2007 - brought some exciting fights to
the West
Warwick Civic Center! A large crowd gathered
and Jackie was set to be the fourth fight that night, fighting three
– two minute rounds. The ding of the bell sounded, marking the start
of round one. Within 20 seconds of the fight, Jackie had knocked her
opponent down with a roundhouse kick to the ribs. After her opponent
regained herself she began to come at Jackie with strong sidekicks,
but Jackie timed her well and came in with a strong right cross,
knocking her opponent down to the canvas for a second time! It was
clear by the end of round one that Jackie knew how to time her
opponent and come in with strong 1, 2’s when her opponent least
expected it. Jackie continued to stay strong in round two. She had
her opponent up against the ropes several times, leaving her
opponent unsure of how to escape from the flurry of punches Jackie
was throwing. Jackie stayed aggressive and by round three it was
clear she was controlling the fight. Her opponent was backing away
from her and trying to keep distance between them with kicks, but
Jackie didn’t let that stop her. As her opponent came at her with a
side kick, Jackie stepped in with three strong right crosses nearly
knocking her opponent to the canvas for a third time! Jackie
continued to stay aggressive, pushing her opponent back with punches
until the bell sounded, ending the last round! The crowd cheered as
the decision came in. A unanimous decision by all the judges named
the winner in the blue corner – Jackie
Morse!

Fighting
to keep kids safe
SETH
BROMLEY, Staff Writer
02/07/2007
JOHNSTON
--Professional kickboxer, fitness trainer and mom Christina Rondeau has added
yet
another line to her resume by authoring two new books on personal
safety.
The
34-year-old Woonsocket native released her
second book, "Power Parent: How to Keep Your Kids Safe," a guide for
parents of young children on how to protect their kids from
potential abductors and sexual predators. It follows on the heels of
Rondeau’s first book, published last year, entitled "The Elements of
Staying Safe," a guide to personal defense for
women.
Rondeau
appeared at Borders Books in Cranston recently to promote the
books, and she plans several other appearances in the near future.
Both books are available at stores and at online booksellers such as
Amazon and Barnes and Noble. They can also be ordered from a link on
Rondeau’s personal Web site, www.rondeauskick-boxing.com, which will
also have information on her appearance schedule.
Though the
veteran kickboxer is most known for her physical prowess, her books’
lessons are focused on the mental aspects of self-defense. She
stresses that for women or children to protect themselves from
physically overpowering attackers, common sense and "pre-thinking"
are more critical skills than jabs or kicks.
"It’s not about
physical stuff," Rondeau said. "You can’t learn physical defense
from a book. It’s about making good decisions and not putting
yourself or your child at risk"
Rondeau’s concepts have been
formed through her years of teaching self-defense classes to women
at her gym, Rondeau’s Kickboxing, now located in Johnston. The issue
of children’s safety became nearer and dearer to her after the birth
of her two children, 6-year-old daughter Kia and 3-year-old son
Cotey Rock.
Rondeau said that while most parents are aware
through the news media of stories about the violent crimes and
abductions perpetrated against children, not enough have actually
taken the step of organizing their thinking and formulating a
personal response to the threat.
"Bad things can happen to
good people, and you can’t always be there to protect your
children," she said. "As a parent, you have to prepare children for
the world we live in."
Rondeau writes that one of the most
powerful tools parents have to protect their children is regular and
open communication.
"Unless you talk about it, you don’t
think about it," she said.
"Power Parent" gives examples and
techniques for families to practice in order to stay safe. One such
concept involves making opportunities for "one-on-one communication
time."
Rondeau suggests parents introduce the concept of a
"talking stick" with their children. The idea is for the child to be
able to sit down with a parent and for one to remain listening while
the other holds the stick and speaks. It’s a simple but powerful
technique, Rondeau believes, as it gives kids a window to talk
openly about their problems and fears.

Scholarships offered to
Local
School Students
for a chance at a Lifetime Membership at Rondeau's
Kickboxing
Rondeau's Kickboxing will
be offering Smithfield/Greenville,RI children a chance to have a
fully paid lifetime membership. "I feel
that learning self
defense and staying healthy should be a part of life. All children
should have the chance to learn how to defend
themselves and be
given the knowledge about stranger danger." states Christina Rondeau. "In the National and
local media there has been alot of talk about child predators along
with Oprah Winfrey's quest to put the most wanted child
predators behind bars. Oprah Winfrey offered a $100,000 award
to anyone who gives information that leads up to the arrest of the
most wanted predators that she posted on her website. I want to give
back to the community and I want to help children learn what to do
not only if they are tried to be abducted but what to do if the
predator actually gets them." All the schools in
Smithfield/Greenville,RI will be recieving a letter that the
children can bring home to their parents talking about the
scholarship. The children will have to submit a short essay
talking about why they are interested in the scholarship and
what being safe means to them. A Scholarship for a boy and girl
is being offered in the following age groups: 4-6, 7-10, 11-13,
a total of six scholarships will be chosen. All scholarships begin
in the New Year and the chosen will be contacted by phone and posted
on the rondeauskickboxing.com website by December 28th. "I
truly understand the some people just can't afford to enroll their
children in extra activites. I do beleive that self defense should
be a part of everyone's life at some point. The confidence and self
esteem that children and adults get from my program is
incredible! The education about "strangers/predators" and
learning how to use your body as a weapon is something that everyone
should learn. This scholarship gives that chance to six children who
may never of had the chance to experience it." concludes,
Christina
Rondeau.

at the Sports
Medicine and Performance
Enhancement Center
Christina Rondeau joins Dr. Jerrold
Rosenberg's team of Professionals at the Sports Medicine and
Performance Enhancement Center in Providence, RI. As a physician who specializes
in non-operative approaches to sports injuries he works with a
team of Professionals including physical therapists, massage
therapists, nutrionalist and personal trainers. Dr. Rosenberg
states, "I recognized the importance of having specialists in
personal training for medical exercise over a decade ago and can
honestly say, that I have learned more about exercise from my
personal trainers than I ever learned at medical
school."
Exercise
is a constantly evolving treatment modality. The use of boxing and
kickboxing for medical patients is spectacularly affective. It
requires core contraction, balance, coordination, cardio activity
and strengthening, all at the same time. Not only has it helped us
complete the patients rehabilitation program, but also it has
allowed us to leave the patient wtih a solid home exercise program
to prevent re-injury.
As a
physician, I could not be happier to have
Professional Kickboxer/Boxer and Personal Trainer,
Christina Rondeau as a
part of my team to offer boxing and kickboxing as part of our
multidiscipline rehabilitation practice. Christina has owned her own
kickboxing gym, "Rondeau's Kickboxing" for over 15 years and has
worked one on one with many people in the fitness and rehab setting.
Christina works with the patients to rebuild strength, stability,
coordination, balance, muscle endurance and helpts to educate the
patients on a safe home exercise program. You can learn more

Local
Kickboxing School
Puts the POWer in Kids' Character.
Open
House Invitation - September 10, 2005 from 8am-1pm
Greenville,
RI
-
August
29, 2005 Rondeau’s Kickboxing is launching a new
character development program, POWerful Words! for the start of the
new 2005-2006 school year. Now a personal development center,
Rondeau’s Kickboxing is incorporating this comprehensive character
development program with their fun and exciting martial arts
curriculum for children ages 4-14. The program forms the backbone
from which all of our students can study, grow, develop, learn and
become an upstanding member of our community and a confident
individual.
“This full education process provides purpose
to what we do as teachers—it gives our students something for which
to strive, the strength to explore, and a foundation on which to
succeed. We feel that by providing several facets to learning, both
physical and mental, we can ultimately help our students to grow in
a variety of positive ways,” says Dr. Robyn J.A. Silverman, creator
of the POWerful Words Character Toolkit
Using POWerful Words!, which includes “the
word of the month” projects and lessons within the context of a fun,
organized martial arts curriculum can invite students to listen,
share, discover, and reflect—and of course, bring the lessons home
to their family. Students and their families can use this positive
approach to set, evaluate, prioritize, and achieve goals—building
strength, respect, responsibility, and hope along the way. They
learn the power of choice, the thrill of accomplishment, as well as
the consequences and rewards of certain behaviors. “Ultimately, our
aim is to help our students embrace the person that they are,
respect those around them, and share their appreciation at home, in
school, at martial arts, and within their community while having a
terrific time learning at our
facility.”
Christina
Rondeau invites
the community to their grand opening party, demonstration, and grand
